Living abroad has many good things like meeting new people from all over the world, getting to know their cultures, and sharing new experiences, but, what about the friends you left back home?
I try to keep in touch with all my childhood and university friends as much as possible: Skype is good, but meeting in real life is better!
I don’t always have the chance of flying home because the trip is not easy, and my friends have visited me already many times in Berlin, so, why not meeting in between?
Juan(@nuere16) and me (@imalove) met through common friends during our University years, and we reunite almost every summer for an express trip somewhere. After some years going to music festivals, we decided to switch to a different plan.
Being raised in a place where you barely see the sun, and the summer is the best day of the year, the Dalmatian coast seemed like the perfect place for catching up after a long time: road trip, swimming in the sea, and enjoying amazing landscapes.
Croatia is a nice middle point between Berlin and Barcelona, when you are trying to find something nice in the mediterranean coast, direct flights have a reasonable price and is just a matter of a couple of hours.
Despite not having much time (just 5 days!) we rented a car and managed to visit three different countries, staring from Dubrovnik (Croatia), and driving through Bosnia to Mostar, and later to Kotor, in Montenegro, as well as some other areas in Croatia.
The experience was great and we will of course repeat next time!
